Chapter Philanthropy and Service
In 1992, Zeta Tau Alpha adopted Breast Cancer Research as the Fraternity's national philanthropy. At the 1996 International Convention, the Fraternity voted to increase ZTA's support of breast cancer awareness by backing up all organizations committed to breast cancer research, education, screening, and treatment. Breast Cancer Education and Awareness then became Zeta Tau Alpha's national philanthropy. Zeta Does this by partnering with Organizations such as Bright Pink, which is devoted to bringing education to women, and the NFL which often hosts "Think Pink" football games at the national level in towns where there is a Zeta chapter as well as a professional football team. The NFL's goal is to bring awareness to this disease and philanthropy!
Here at Valdosta State University, home of the Blazers, our chapter holds many philanthropic events. We host our annual Big Man On Campus, a comical male beauty pageant. We also join in with the Blazers to put on our annual Pink Out Football Game and a Pink Out Baseball Game. We have many different fundraisers during October when we "Paint the Campus Pink" by decorating the VSU campus with signs, ribbons, and our philanthropy tables. One hundred percent of the money raised at these events goes directly to our philanthropy. Our chapter loves giving back to the community in any way that we can. We are always willing to help out our community and raise awareness for those affected by Breast Cancer, as well as educating women to prevent the spread of this disease.
